Dorsey & Whitney LLP today announced the formation of an Iraq practice to provide legal counsel to participants in the rebuilding of real estate in Iraq.
Dorsey & Whitney's attorneys specialize in energy, international affairs, intellectual property, government relations, construction, finance and procurement.
The new practice, headed by the firm's managing partner Richard Powers, will offer legal guidance for the execution of a business infrastructure in Iraq. Adjacent to the epicenter of policy and regulatory influence in Washington, the practice will provide legal advice and counsel based on prior international work and the ability to translate best practices to current reconstruction issues.
"There is an immediate need for legal counsel to support the various government agencies and private corporations asked to help rebuild specific industry sectors such as petroleum, housing, power generation, food, medical supplies and telecommunications," Powers said. "Our Washington-based Iraq Practice is well qualified to handle the myriad of issues that will be arising throughout the rebuilding process."
Dorsey & Whitney is an international law firm serving clients from 20 offices in the United States, Canada, Asia and Europe.
