On May 4, President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev visited the newly reconstructed Green Theater. The Azerbaijani property was put into operation in 60s of the last century. It served as a place for cultural events in Baku. However, because of the lack of care it has been in bad condition since 1990. In August 2005, President Ilham Aliyev signed an executive order on its reconstruction.

Reconstruction activities involved over 30 building teams. This March 8 President studied the course of works, gave recommendations and tasks.

President Ilham Aliyev was informed that as a result of reconstruction, the area of the Green Theater became twice as large with the number of seats increased from 1600 to 2500. The seats were manufactured in Spain, and sound and lighting equipment was acquired from and installed by high-profile US and Italian firms upon assignment of the President.

As the Theater is located in the slip zone 196 columns have been set to strengthen the cornerstone of the amphitheater. Makeup, administrative rooms and other facilities are under the stage.

The Theater will be officially inaugurated on May 10.

President Ilham Aliyev praised the work done, and gave necessary instructions on its further usage.
