The coastal resort Sozopol is the Bulgarian region with highest demand for real estate. A Bulgarian newspaper published a survey ranking Bulgarian regions based on the property demand. Sozopol offers over 400 plots for hotel construction. One problem, common for all coastal regions, is the low supply of quality plots since the villages are rather small and already over-populated during the summer season. Property prices depend on various factors including proximity to the sea shore. Accessibility to transport and communication routes are also of great importance. The resort is not only among the most demanded seaside towns but there is great interest in real estate investment. A real estate investment fund said it signed an agreement for the construction of the Santa Marina residential community near the town of Sozopol, on the Black Sea. The compound, to be ready by April 2007, will have a built-up area of 7691 sq m. Four villas with a total of 96 apartments will be built during the first stage of construction. The town of Sozopol is located 34 kilometers south of Bourgas on a slender rocky peninsula. This charming place is a popular tourist resort, best known for its casual ambiance, sandy beaches, and distinctive nineteenth-century stone and wood houses. Sozopol is among the oldest Bulgarian cities. Greek emigrants from Anatolia reached the peninsula, the bay and the islands 2600 years ago, and decided to settle here. They founded Apollonia. Apollo, the God of arts, was the city protector. At that time Apollonia was the greatest and the richest city at the Black Sea coast, a commercial and art center. A variety of archeological finds were preserved from this period - coins, ceramic amphora, ancient anchors, etc. Nowadays Sozopol is a national and international holiday center attracting tourists from all parts of the world- Great Britain, Germany, Poland, Russia, Ukraine, Czech Republic, France. The artistic atmosphere makes it the most favorite tourist destination.Another opportunity for visitors in Sozopol is to be part of the greatest Bulgarian cultural event - Apollonia Festival of Arts. The great traditions, beautiful nature and history combined with authentic look and modern services and infrastructure define Sozopol as one of the best Bulgarian resorts where you can hear people speaking many different languages. That’s what real estate investors are looking for and what tourist describe as the perfect vacation. The town deserves to be seen and felt. Probably that’s the reason for Sozopol being the Bulgarian region with highest demand for real estate.
